Dear Xiao Ao,

Thank you very much for your kind letter. I am very happy to get to know you and to be able to help you with your school.

I was born in Singapore and I am also Chinese.  My mother is Cantonese and my father is Teochew. I moved away from Singapore when I was 5 years old and I spent most of my teenage years in California in the United States.  I currently live in Paris, France with my husband and my son who is 15 months old. I work at a French company that makes handbags.

I am sorry that I do not speak Chinese but you can continue to write to me in Chinese and I have someone who can translate your letters for me.

I am happy to hear that you are very motivated at school. I have read your profile and I am very impressed by everything that you have already accomplished. What are your favourite subjects at school?  What do you like to read?

I have been to Shanghai but I would love the visit more of your country, including your village one day.
